On Friday September 7 the CommUNITY Diversity Group hosted a pizza and a movie night at the La Grange Public Library. Besides Pizza they showed the documentary, "Maya Angelou: And Still I Rise" which was a biography of Ms. Angelou produced by the PBS Series American Masters.
The event was well attended with the participants expressing afterwards things that they learned about Ms. Angelou after the showing.
This evening was the first of two events scheduled that weekend with the second being a Race Unity Rally held at the La Grange Village Hall.
Sunday's festivities featured a Unity Proclamation by the Village, Kendra Freeman, Manager of Metropolitan Planning Council, the "Watch My Feet" Performers and presentation of the CDG Lifetime Diversity Achievement Award to F. Willis (Bill) Caruso, Clinical Professor Emeritus, of the John Marshall Law School.
