This video was created by a new discussion group within "University Women of Flagler" called "Seeking Insights for Solutions" or SIS. A lot of our usual activities for fundraising for scholarships were curtailed during COVID, as happened for many groups.
But one new thing happened: We started a discussion group called “Seeking Insights for Solutions” in the Summer of 2020 after George Floyd died. It’s about Social Justice and how we can help in some way. We’re about 30 members now – 15 white and 15 Black. (Update: in 2023, we're now over 50 members.)
We’ve been doing cross-racial interviews about our histories and it’s been very illuminating. Then we decided to create a video about our findings – both cultural and research. We presented the video on Saturday, February 20, 2021, to our UWF General Meeting. And we have presented this video along with Q&A's for a number of historical and cultural groups in Florida.
